The Detex ECL-230X is an alarmed deadbolt for a secondary exit: a door that has to stay available for egress but should not be used casually. It combines a deadbolt with a 100 decibel local alarm and a photo-luminescent sign, so leaving that way is both harder to do and impossible to do quietly. Detex describes its products as assembled in America.

This is the two point TD build: the deadbolt plus a top bolt on a vertical rod. The standard rod fits a 6 ft 8 in to 7 ft door. Taller doors need a longer rod, which is a different order, so tell us your door height if it is over 7 ft.

How it works

The deadbolt throws 1 in into the frame, and locking or unlocking it always arms or disarms the alarm. The alarm runs on a 9 volt battery, which is included, and it can only be reset with a control key. The device is low profile, within the 4 in maximum projection the International Building Code allows, and one size fits doors 36 in to 48 in wide.
