Door Position Switches

A door position switch tells another system whether a door is open or closed. A magnet on the door and a switch on the frame make or break a contact that an alarm, a door prop timer, an access control panel or a remote annunciator reads. Flush switches are set into the door and frame; surface switches mount on them.

Balanced magnetic switches are harder to defeat with a separate magnet and are used where security matters. A switch on a fire door needs a listing for fire door use. Some door alarm kits include a switch.
