Access Panels
Access panels give service access to valves, dampers, junction boxes, and cleanouts hidden behind walls and ceilings. The ones here are the panels codes actually care about: fire-rated, insulated doors that go into fire-resistance-rated assemblies without giving up the rating.
Why fire-rated matters
Cutting an access opening into a rated wall or ceiling compromises the assembly unless the opening gets a listed, self-closing access door. The FD series is UL Certified and Labeled at 1-1/2 hours for walls, self-closes and latches per NFPA 80, and carries a B-label allowance for 2-hour walls under IBC 2024. A listed panel is valid for its listed assemblies; confirm yours with the AHJ.
Choosing a size
Order size equals door size, and the clear opening runs 1-1/4 in smaller. Common sizes from 8 x 8 to 24 x 24 in are stocked; the series runs to 48 x 48 in with stainless, galvanneal, heavier gauges, and lock options as factory builds. Need a size or configuration not listed? Ask us for a quote.
