Fire Hose & Valve Cabinets

Wall cabinets that protect and identify fire department valves, hose rack units, and valve-plus-extinguisher combinations on standpipe systems. A cabinet keeps the connection accessible and tamper-protected, and gives building occupants and responding firefighters a clearly marked place to find it. Hose and valve cabinets include piping knockouts for 1-1/2 in and 2-1/2 in pipe on each side of the tub.

Choose by what the cabinet holds

Valve cabinets house a single fire department valve on a Class I standpipe. Dual cabinets hold two valves, or a valve beside a portable extinguisher. Combination cabinets pair a fire department valve or hose rack with an extinguisher in one vertical enclosure, covering a hose connection and portable protection at the same station.

Choose by mounting

Semi-recessed cabinets set the tub into the wall with a square or rolled trim projecting a few inches — models that project 4 inches or less meet the ADA protrusion requirement for corridors and egress paths. Surface-mount cabinets bolt to the wall face and need no wall cavity, so they suit stairwells, masonry, and mechanical areas.

Choose by material

Steel (white powder coat) is the standard for back-of-house and general commercial interiors. Aluminum (clear satin) resists corrosion at a mid-range price. #4 brushed stainless steel suits premium lobbies, health-care, and food-service interiors.

Placement

Standpipe hose connections and their spacing are governed by NFPA 14 and the local fire code — the cabinet protects the equipment; confirm valve locations with your fire-protection engineer or AHJ.
