Yes. The samaritan PAD 350P, 360P and 450P and the Pad-Pak cartridges are covered by FDA premarket approval P160008, first granted in January 2017.

Can the samaritan PAD be used on children?

Yes, with the Pediatric-Pak, which is FDA approved for children between 1 and 8 years old with the 350P. Adults use the standard adult Pad-Pak.

A Pad-Pak is a single-use cartridge holding both the battery and the electrode pads, with one expiration date and a four-year shelf life from manufacture. Replace it after any use of the AED or when it expires.

The samaritan PAD and the Pad-Pak

The samaritan PAD 350P is a semi-automatic AED. Visual and verbal prompts guide the responder through the rescue, and the responder presses the shock button when the device advises a shock. Each unit runs on a Pad-Pak, a single-use cartridge that combines the battery and the electrode pads with one expiration date and a four-year shelf life, so there is one item to check and one item to replace. The unit is rated IP56 for protection against dust and water.
