Von Duprin 98EO Rim Exit Device Smooth Case Exit Only

The Von Duprin 98EO is a 98 series rim exit device, the latch that mounts on the face of the door and catches a strike on the frame, for single doors and pairs with a mullion. The 98 has a smooth mechanism case (the 99 is the grooved case version), and only the 98 comes in 630 satin stainless steel. This build is exit only (EO): it has no outside trim, so the door opens from the push side only. See all our rim exit devices.

Door stile	Von Duprin's stile chart lists a minimum stile of 4-3/8 to 4-1/2 in on a single door with the 299 strike, depending on the trim, and 4-3/4 to 4-7/8 in on a pair with a 4954 mullion. Check the chart for your trim and strike

What else the opening needs

Outside trim if the door must open from the outside. This exit only build has none, and Von Duprin's trim is ordered as its own part. A mullion on a pair of doors, such as a Von Duprin 4954 or KR4954 steel mullion prepared for 299 strikes.

Listings

Von Duprin lists the 98/99 rim device as panic exit hardware under UL 305 and certifies it to ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Grade 1. It is not fire exit hardware and must not go on a fire-rated door.
