Do Dentec cartridges fit other manufacturers' respirators?

Fitting and approval are separate questions. NIOSH approves the complete assembly named on the approval label, so a cartridge on an unlisted facepiece is not approved even if it seats. Check that your facepiece and component part numbers share a row on that approval label.

Qualitative or quantitative fit testing?

Qualitative testing is pass or fail; quantitative returns a fit factor. OSHA allows it only up to a fit factor of 100; a full facepiece above that needs a quantitative test to 500. Dentec supplies kits for the first, adapters for the second. More on the manufacturer at Dentec Safety Specialists .

Dentec Safety Specialists

Dentec Safety Specialists runs a respirator plant in Lenexa, Kansas. Not everything sold under the Dentec name is built there. They publish a country of origin per product, and split it by component when the parts differ: the 130M full facepiece reads China for the mask, USA for the cartridges and filters. The Lenexa line is the one we source. Claudio Dente acquired the assets of US Safety, a respirator manufacturer already there, in March of 2014, after twenty-seven years as its master importer for Canada. He has told Congress he remains committed to manufacturing and assembling in Lenexa and to sourcing raw materials from US manufacturers, and reports investing since in new molds, molding machines and additional NIOSH approvals.

Reusable respirators instead of disposables

The Comfort-Air platform is built around reusable half masks rather than single-use filtering facepieces, in silicone, thermoplastic and elastomeric series plus a valveless variant where an exhalation valve is not acceptable. Dentec's pitch against disposables is seal quality, comfort and less waste.

Cartridges, filters and approved configurations

Cartridge chemistries cover organic vapor, acid gas, ammonia and methylamine, and multi-gas, each also with a P100 filter version for mixed exposures. We stock these in the manufacturer's case and box packs, under respirator cartridges and filters.

NIOSH approves a complete assembly in the configuration named on its approval label, not a component in isolation. Dentec holds live approvals for complete half-mask and full-facepiece air-purifying respirators and for Type C supplied-air respirators, each naming the cartridges and filters it covers. When something we carry sits under a live approval, the product page names it.

Fit testing
