LCN
LCN pioneered the commercial door control industry. Lewis Carey Norton invented the pneumatic door check in 1880 after being commissioned to solve the problem of slamming doors at Boston's Trinity Church, and LCN closers have been manufactured in Princeton, Illinois ever since. Now part of Allegion, LCN builds the heavy-duty surface, track, concealed, and automatic door operators that spec writers default to on hospitals, schools, office buildings, and any high-traffic opening that needs to meet ADA opening force and NFPA 80 self-closing requirements. The 4040XP Series is the flagship — a Grade 1 cast-iron heavy-duty closer that has been the reference standard for commercial openings for decades. LCN hardware ships with ANSI/BHMA A156.4 Grade 1 listings and UL/cUL fire-rated configurations.
