Schlage

Schlage is part of Allegion, alongside brands such as LCN, Von Duprin and Ives. Allegion describes Schlage as making security products for homes, multi-family, commercial and institutional buildings, from mechanical locks to electronic access control. For commercial doors, its mechanical locks include the ND Series of Grade 1 cylindrical locks and the L Series of Grade 1 mortise locks.

Cylindrical and mortise locks

The ND Series fits a door prepared for a cylindrical, or bored, lock, and the L Series fits a mortise lock case set into a pocket in the door edge. With a conventional cylinder, Schlage lists the ND Series under ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000, Grade 1, and the L Series under A156.13 Series 1000, Grade 1, and it states separate ratings for its interchangeable core versions. Both come in many functions, such as a passage latch that never locks, an entrance and office lock and a storeroom lock that is always locked from outside, though the controls differ by series: the ND entrance and office lock locks with a push button in the inside lever, the L Series one with an inside turn.
