Security Door Controls
SDC, Security Door Controls, makes electronic locking, access control and door hardware in Camarillo, California. Arthur V. Geringer founded the company in 1972. It develops, manufactures and markets mechanical door locks and exit devices, access controls, electronic locking devices and security systems, and says that assembly of its products takes place in the United States.
What SDC makes
Electromagnetic and shear locks, delayed egress locks, electric strikes, electrified locksets, exit devices, keypads and readers, key switches, egress bars, emergency door releases and low energy operators. SDC says it introduced delayed egress locking in 1985 and launched the ExitCheck series in 1995, the first delayed egress lock with an integrated digital display, verbal countdown and alternating verbal message. Delayed egress and the codes
SDC's delayed egress locks hold an exit door for 15 seconds, or 30 where approved, after a push, while an alarm and a spoken countdown run, and release at once on a signal from the fire life safety system. For the ExitCheck single door series SDC lists UL 294, UL 10B and UL 10C, ULC-S104 and ULC-S533, NFPA 101 special locking arrangements, the IBC and IFC delayed egress provisions and a California State Fire Marshal listing, with its own footnote that every installation must be approved by the local authority having jurisdiction. Where SDC products are made
SDC states that every SDC delayed egress product and system solution is designed, engineered and built in America. Its Build America, Buy America letter certifies at least 55 percent US component cost and final assembly in the United States for its manufactured goods, naming the Excel series electromagnetic locks and two gate lock models as exceptions.
