What is the cabinet for?
Storing fire hose and its equipment where you need it. The manufacturer calls it a durable storage cabinet. It has a shelf inside, louvers on both sides for ventilation and two doors with a padlock hasp.
Indoors or outdoors?
Either. The HECIR is cold rolled steel for indoor use and the HECIG is galvanneal steel for outdoor use. Both are finished in red powder coat, and the angled top overhangs the doors to shed water.
How big is it, and does it come on legs?
58 in wide, 42 in high and 18-1/2 in deep. On the 12 in legs (HECIRL or HECIGL) it stands 54 in high, and 18 or 24 in legs are an option. Each leg bolts to the base and has a lip for fastening to the floor if you want it anchored.
Does it lock?
It comes with a hasp for your own padlock. A locking chrome handle with top and bottom latching is an option, and it has to be ordered with the cabinet so the rod latching can be fitted.
Can you match the cabinet I'm replacing?
The manufacturer publishes a cross-reference from these cabinets to Fire End & Croker, Larsen's and Potter Roemer hose equipment cabinets, as a guide rather than exact equivalents. Send the old model number or a photo of its label and we check the size and legs before we quote.
What comes with the HRA hose rack?
The whole assembly: 1-1/2 in single jacket hose, an industrial fog nozzle, cast brass couplings, the red enamel pin rack, an angle valve, an escutcheon and a nipple. The 2-1/2 in valve version adds a reducer. The rack is made for one-person operation.
Which hose length and valve should I pick?
The hose is 1-1/2 in on every model. On a 1-1/2 in valve it comes in 50, 75 or 100 ft, with brass or chrome-plated fittings. On a 2-1/2 in valve with a reducer it comes in 50, 75, 100 or 125 ft. The manufacturer rates the 1-1/2 in valve models for Class II service and the 2-1/2 in models for Class II and III.
Which cabinet holds an HRA rack?
The manufacturer sizes its Crownline 6000 series hose cabinets to these racks. A 50 or 75 ft rack takes a cabinet 24 × 30 in inside, a 100 ft rack 24 × 34-3/4 in and a 125 ft rack 24 × 38-3/4 in. The cabinet is 6 in deep inside for a 1-1/2 in valve and 8 in for a 2-1/2 in valve. It is a separate order, and Crownline hose cabinets are in the same collection as this page. The manufacturer does not call for an HRA inside the HECIR or HECIG.
Is it made in the USA?
The cabinets are. The manufacturer lists its steel fire protection cabinets as built in Bloomington, Minnesota or Commerce, California. Its US-made list does not include hose racks, so we make no origin claim for the HRA. Ask and we confirm it for your project.
What is the warranty?
One year from shipment against defects in materials and workmanship, for the cabinets and the hose racks.
Which spec section is it?
Hose cabinets are usually specified under 10 44 13 Fire Protection Cabinets, though some project manuals put them in the standpipe section, 21 12 00. Hose racks are specified in Division 21 with the standpipe. The manufacturer's catalog files its cabinets under 10 44 00 and its hose racks under 21 12 00.
