Adams Rite
Adams Rite calls itself the Aluminum Hardware Authority, specializing in electromechanical deadlocks and deadlatches, electric strikes, exit devices and trim for narrow stile aluminum openings. Its hardware also serves hollow metal and wood doors. Adams Rite MS deadlocks date to 1955 and are the foundation of the industry standard MS prep. Adams Rite is an ASSA ABLOY brand, and its own product information is on adamsrite.com.
Narrow stile rim exit devices
The 8800 Series rim exit device is built for narrow stile aluminum doors, and its Starwheel bolt and interlocking noseguard close around the strike to resist jamb spreading. The P8800 Series uses a 3/4 in stainless steel Pullman latchbolt instead. Both are listed to UL 305 as panic hardware, and both need a stile of at least 2 in. Adams Rite lists the P8800 to ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Grade 1. Neither is listed as fire exit hardware, so they are for doors that are not fire rated. Find both among our rim exit devices, and on a pair of doors, order each device for half the total opening.
Deadlatches and lever handles
The 4510 standard duty deadlatch fits the MS prep: Adams Rite says it is interchangeable, without stile modification, with an MS1850S deadlock of the same backset and faceplate shape, though it does not give the same maximum security as the deadlock. It takes a standard 1-5/32 in mortise cylinder with an MS cam, sold separately. The 4560 Series handle is an ADA compliant lever that operates Adams Rite's 4300, 4500 and 4900 Series deadlatches. Find both among our commercial locksets. For cylinders, MS deadlocks, electric strikes or other Adams Rite hardware, ask us for a quote.
