Is this cabinet fire-rated?

No, this is a standard (non-rated) cabinet, which is fine in a non-fire-rated wall or for surface mounting. To recess a cabinet into a fire-rated wall, choose a fire-rated (FX2) model.

How does this cabinet mount?

It surface-mounts to the wall face, so it needs only blocking and no wall cavity. It suits masonry, thin walls, and back-of-house areas.

Do I need a key to open this cabinet?

No. This door style ships without a lock. The door is held shut by a roller catch and pulls open by hand, so a routine inspection needs no key and no tools. JL does offer a Saf-T-Lok cylinder lock with two keys on other door styles in this series, so ask us for a quote if the site needs a cabinet that locks.
