MSA Safety
MSA Safety was founded as Mine Safety Appliances Company in 1914 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, originally addressing the dangerous conditions in American coal mines. The company pioneered self-contained breathing apparatus and gas detection equipment, and now operates manufacturing facilities across the United States including plants in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas. MSA safety equipment is tagged for the compliance programs it serves: ANSI Z89.1, OSHA 1910.134, ANSI Z359, and OSHA 1910.146 confined-space work.
Head protection (V-Gard, Skullgard, Comfo-Cap)
The V-Gard hard hat line is the MSA flagship for ANSI Z89.1-compliant industrial and construction head protection, available in cap and full-brim configurations with the Fas-Trac III suspension and a wide color range for crew identification. Skullgard and Comfo-Cap helmet lines add high-heat protection for foundry, steel mill, and high-temperature industrial environments.
