JL Industries Cosmopolitan Stainless Steel Semi-Recessed Solid Door Fire Extinguisher Cabinet 10 lb 1037S21

The JL Industries Cosmopolitan 1037S21 is a semi-recessed stainless steel fire extinguisher cabinet with a solid door, made in the USA. There is no window: the door is a flat 20-gauge 304 stainless panel in the same #4 satin finish as the 18-gauge trim, on a continuous stainless hinge that opens 180 degrees, with a zinc-plated pull handle and roller catch. It is the same cabinet as the full-view 1037F10 with the glazing replaced by stainless, so the tub, trim and wall opening are identical and the two are interchangeable in an existing opening. The product images are representative of this configuration; the cabinet ships built as specified in the table below.

Extinguisher compatibility

JL rates this tub for Cosmic and Galaxy extinguishers from 2.5 to 10 lb, Mercury from 2.5 to 5 lb, and the 5 lb Sentinel. Solid door and lettering

A solid door is specified where the extinguisher should not be on display, where glazing has been broken before, or where the corridor wants one clean stainless face. With no window, the door itself has to say what is inside, which is why most solid-door specs pair the cabinet with lettering: choose the red vertical FIRE EXTINGUISHER option above and the cabinet is supplied with JL's 3/4 in die-cut vinyl lettering. Silkscreened or engraved lettering (engraving is available on #4 stainless), other colours, and horizontal layouts are factory options; request a quote from this page. Confirm the marking your authority having jurisdiction expects before choosing an unlettered door.

Where this model fits

Stainless is the spec for healthcare, food, lab and high-traffic corridors, and wherever the surrounding hardware is stainless. Semi-recessed suits a wall too shallow to take a fully recessed tub: the rough opening is only 3-1/8 in deep and the rest of the cabinet sits proud behind a 3 in rolled trim, within the 4 in protrusion limit for a corridor or means of egress.
