JL Industries Ambassador Steel Semi-Recessed Fire Rated Fire Extinguisher Cabinet 10 lb 1017F10FX2

The JL Industries Ambassador 1017F10FX2 is the fire-rated build of the semi-recessed 3 in rolled-trim Ambassador cabinet with a full-view acrylic door, for a 10 lb extinguisher, made in the USA. The Fire-FX2 construction lines the cabinet with wool insulation and is UL classified and labeled up to 2 hours in accordance with UL 1479 (ASTM E814) and CAN/ULC-S115, so the cabinet can go into a fire-resistance-rated wall without compromising the wall's rating for its listed assemblies. Outside it matches the non-rated cabinet: one 8-1/2 in × 22-3/4 in clear acrylic pane, continuous hinge, zinc-plated pull handle with roller catch, white powder-coat steel.

Rated wall or not?

The fire-rated build needs a larger rough opening than the non-rated 1017F10: 12-13/16 in × 26-5/16 in × 4 in against 11-1/2 in × 25 in × 3-1/8 in. The two are not interchangeable once the wall is framed, so confirm the wall's rating before you cut the opening. Extinguisher compatibility

JL rates this tub for Cosmic 2.5 to 10 lb and Galaxy 2.5 to 10 lb dry chemical, Mercury clean agent to 5 lb, and the 5 lb Sentinel CO2. Fit is set by the extinguisher's cylinder diameter against this cabinet's 6 in interior (tub) depth, not by weight.
