JL Industries Ambassador Steel Recessed Fire Rated Fire Extinguisher Cabinet 10 lb 1015F10FX2

The JL Industries Ambassador 1015F10FX2 is the fire-rated build of the fully recessed 3/8 in flat-trim Ambassador cabinet with a full-view acrylic door, for a 10 lb extinguisher, made in the USA. The Fire-FX2 construction lines the cabinet with mineral wool insulation and is UL classified and labeled up to 2 hours in accordance with UL 1479 (ASTM E814) and CAN/ULC-S115, so the cabinet can go into a fire-resistance-rated wall without compromising the wall's rating for its listed assemblies. Outside it matches the non-rated 1015F10: one 8-1/2 in × 22-3/4 in clear acrylic pane, continuous hinge, zinc-plated pull handle with roller catch, white powder-coat steel and only the 3/8 in trim on the wall face. The photo shows the non-rated 1017F10, which has the same full-view door on a 3 in rolled trim. This fire-rated cabinet has the 3/8 in flat trim and ships built as specified in the table below.

Rated wall or not?

The fire-rated build needs a larger and deeper rough opening than the non-rated 1015F10: 12-13/16 in × 26-5/16 in × 6-15/16 in against 11-1/2 in × 25 in × 5-7/8 in. The two are not interchangeable once the wall is framed, so confirm the wall's rating before you cut the opening. A listed cabinet is valid only for its listed wall assemblies. Extinguisher compatibility

JL rates this tub for dry-chemical extinguishers from 2.5 to 10 lb, Halotron clean agent from 2.5 to 5 lb, and a 5 lb CO2 extinguisher. Before ordering, compare your extinguisher's overall height, handle included, with the tub's inside height and its overall width, hose included, with the inside width. Its cylinder diameter has to fit the 6 in tub depth. Allow at least 1 in of clearance each way and check that it fits through the door opening.
