Buckeye 5 lb CO2 Fire Extinguisher

Carbon dioxide is a clean extinguishing agent that leaves no residue and conducts no electricity. It works by displacing oxygen at the fire and cooling the surface, which is why it's safe around energized electrical equipment where water or dry chemical would cause damage. Buckeye makes this 5 lb CO2 unit rated 5-B:C with a 9-second discharge and a 4 to 8 foot effective range.

Buckeye lists chemical and manufacturing plants, oil rigs, rail yards, warehouses, construction sites, parking garages, boat docks, and large laboratories as typical uses, and recommends CO2 for sensitive electronic equipment such as computers, control panels, and electrical boxes, because it dissipates after discharge and leaves nothing to clean off. It is built to UL 154, and placement and mounting height follow NFPA 10. It is not a kitchen extinguisher: cooking-oil fires need a Class K unit.

One thing to size for: CO2 produces no lingering suppression. Once the gas disperses, fuel that stays above its autoignition temperature can reflash. In confined spaces, a full discharge can displace enough oxygen to endanger occupants. Match extinguisher size to the space.

Polyester epoxy powder-coated aluminum cylinder, plated brass valve, and stainless steel handle and lever. The cylinder is US DOT compliant and tested to 3,000 psi.
