All three portables carry the same 10-B:C rating and the same 4–8 ft range. The extra agent buys discharge time, not reach — and each ships with the wall hook sized to its own cylinder.

Carbon dioxide is a clean extinguishing agent that leaves no residue and conducts no electricity. It smothers Class B flammable-liquid and energized Class C electrical fires by displacing oxygen and cooling the surface, with nothing to wipe off equipment afterward. Buckeye makes this 15 lb CO2 unit rated 10-B:C with a 15-second discharge and a 4 to 8 foot effective range.

Buckeye lists this unit for chemical and manufacturing plants, oil rigs, rail yards, warehouses, construction sites, parking garages, boat docks, and large laboratories, plus the server rooms, switchgear, and electrical rooms where a residue-free agent matters. Carbon dioxide has an Ozone Depletion Potential of 0 and a Global Warming Potential of 1, and it dissipates into the atmosphere after discharge with nothing to wipe off boards or precision equipment. Equipment room protection under NFPA 75 specifically calls out clean agents over water or dry chemical, and portable units work alongside fixed clean-agent systems governed by NFPA 2001.

Sizing note: the 15 lb carries the same 10-B:C rating as the 10 lb. The additional agent does not raise Buckeye's published UL rating for this model; it mainly extends discharge time to 15 seconds, not reach, which stays at 4 to 8 feet across all sizes. The short range and rapid CO2 dispersion are what limit the rated test-fire area. CO2 fire extinguishers also leave no lingering suppression, so fuel held above its autoignition temperature can reflash, and a full discharge in a confined space can displace enough oxygen to endanger occupants. Match extinguisher size to room volume.

Built on a polyester epoxy powder coated aluminum cylinder with a rugged plated brass valve and a stainless steel handle and lever. Manufactured to ANSI/UL 154 and ANSI/UL 711; USDOT cylinders are tested to 3000 psi. US Coast Guard approved for Type B:C Size II only when ordered with the Model 810 mounting bracket (P/N 700228). Operating temperature range -22°F to +120°F.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this on energized electrical equipment?

Yes. CO2 is non-conductive and leaves no residue, so it is safe on live electrical equipment. This 15 lb unit is rated 10-B:C, covering Class B flammable liquids and Class C electrical fires. CO2 carries no Class A rating, so keep a Class A or ABC unit for ordinary combustibles.

Will it leave residue or damage electronics?

No. Carbon dioxide dissipates into the air after discharge with nothing to wipe off boards, drives, or precision equipment. That is why NFPA 75 calls out clean agents over water or dry chemical for IT equipment rooms, and why dry chemical, which leaves corrosive residue, is the wrong choice around electronics.

How is the 15 lb different from the 10 lb?

The 15 lb carries the same 10-B:C rating as the 10 lb. The extra agent extends discharge time to about 15 seconds, not reach, which stays at 4 to 8 feet across the CO2 line. Size to the room, not just the label.

What should I watch for in a small room?

CO2 leaves no lingering suppression, so fuel held above its autoignition temperature can reflash once the gas disperses, and a full discharge in a confined space can displace enough oxygen to endanger occupants. Match extinguisher size to room volume and ventilate before re-entry.

What standards does it meet?

It is manufactured to ANSI/UL 154 and ANSI/UL 711, rated 10-B:C, and it supports NFPA 10 for placement and maintenance. CO2 cylinders also require a hydrostatic test every 5 years.

Where is it made?

In the USA, at Buckeye's Kings Mountain, North Carolina plant.

Does this extinguisher come with an inspection tag?

No. New extinguishers ship untagged. A service tag records maintenance performed on a unit that is already in service, so there is nothing to record on a new one yet. Under NFPA 10 the annual maintenance is done by a trained person and the tag is attached then. The monthly visual inspection is one you can do yourself.

Can I return this fire extinguisher?

Once shipped, charged fire extinguishers are not returnable. They are DOT-regulated hazardous materials (compressed gas, UN 1044) and cannot be shipped back through normal parcel carriers. If your unit arrives damaged or defective, email support@usmadesupply.com with photos and we will work with you on a resolution.
