Halotron I is a clean agent that leaves no residue and conducts no electricity, developed as a drop-in replacement for Halon 1211. Buckeye makes this compact 2.5 lb stored-pressure unit with a fixed nozzle for vehicles, small electrical enclosures, and point protection of sensitive equipment. Rated 2-B:C and listed to ANSI/UL 711.
Because Halotron discharges as a rapidly evaporating liquid and leaves nothing behind, it is the right choice anywhere ABC dry chemical would do collateral damage: server cabinets, telecom gear, lab instruments, and electronics. Dry chemical extinguishes the fire but leaves corrosive residue that keeps damaging boards and drives afterward.
Portable Halotron units complement fixed clean-agent systems governed by NFPA 2001, with NFPA 75 covering fire protection for IT equipment rooms; for placement and maintenance see NFPA 10. Steel cylinder, brass valve. Made in Kings Mountain, NC. NFPA 75 also covers firestopping the cable and conduit penetrations through the room's fire-rated walls, the passive side of the standard; see our data center firestop compliance guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this on energized electrical equipment?
Yes. Halotron I is non-conductive, so it is safe on live electrical equipment. This 2.5 lb unit is rated 2-B:C, covering Class B flammable liquids and Class C electrical fires. It does not carry a Class A rating, so pair it with a Class A unit where ordinary combustibles are also a concern.
Will it leave residue or damage electronics?
No. Halotron discharges as a rapidly evaporating liquid and leaves no residue, so it will not contaminate the equipment it protects. ABC dry chemical is also rated for electrical fires but leaves a corrosive powder that can keep damaging boards after the fire is out.
What is this size best suited for?
Point protection. The 2.5 lb unit has a fixed nozzle and a 6 to 10 ft range, which suits vehicles, small electrical enclosures, and single racks or cabinets rather than whole-room coverage. For a server or electrical room, step up to the 5 lb or 11 lb unit.
What standards does it meet?
It is listed to ANSI/UL 711 and rated 2-B:C, and it supports NFPA 10 for placement and maintenance. Portable Halotron units complement fixed clean-agent systems under NFPA 2001, with NFPA 75 covering fire protection for IT equipment rooms.
Where is it made?
In the USA, at Buckeye's Kings Mountain, North Carolina plant.
